Can I freeze my yogurt?
No, Greek yogurt is best kept in the fridge, as the creamy texture may change if frozen. If you have to due to light issues, bring it out as soon as possible, don’t allow the yogurt to freeze completely.
My Yogurt is frozen, is it spoilt?
No, it’s not spoilt (like gone bad) only the texture has changed.
What can I do with the yogurt now that it's frozen?
Allow the frozen yogurt to melt, use a hand mixer/smoothie maker/blender and whip it back. It will regain some of its creamy texture but it will be lighter in texture and may have a few lumps or grainy feel.
If you still miss the creamy texture, don’t throw it away, like seriously. Rather add it to your cereal/pap, make a smoothie, frozen yogurt popsicles, bake a cake with it, add to your pancakes for that moist fluffy pancake, add to your flat breads or quickly whip up a delicious a two-ingredient yogurt bread, or make some salad dressing! Check out our page for all these recipes using yogurt.
Not kitchen friendly? Oya give it to your friend that is! I don try.
There’s a liquid on top of my yogurt?
The liquid on top of yogurt is called Whey. Whey is a liquid by-product after yogurt has been strained or centrifuged to produce thick and creamy Greek yogurt. If your yogurt sits in the fridge for long time, you may also see the whey on top of your yogurt, simply mix it back in or pour if off, but I would advise you mix it back in as Whey has many nutritional benefits. It’s low in fat and cholesterol, high in calcium and is an excellent source of B vitamins. It has a very low lactose content. It gives your yogurt its signature tang and contains beneficial probiotics, too! So mix it back in and enjoy your yogurt.
What is Greek Yogurt? How is it different from regular/drinking yogurt?
Greek yogurt is made by straining out the whey (the liquid) in regular yogurt, which makes the yogurt thicker, creamier and tangier than regular yogurt. Greek yogurt has less calories due to the straining of the whey and double the protein than regular yogurt. Greek yogurt is thick and creamy, you have to use a spoon to eat it.
Types of yogurts?
Drinking/Drinkable yogurt, Stirred Yogurt, Set Yogurt, Greek Yogurt (strained), Greek styled yogurt (filled), Parfait Yogurt – (this has a lighter texture than Greek yogurt, but is thicker than drinking yogurt – its right in the middle of both).
BUGO Yogurt makes both Greek yogurts (strained) and Drinking yogurts both for retail and bulk buyers. Parfait yogurt is also made but for bulk/wholesale only.
Other types of yogurt or customized requirements like the fat content, flavor type can be made on request. Reach out to us and let’s know your spec!
BUGO Yogurt contain Probiotics?
Yes, yes and yes again! All our yogurts both the Greek yogurts and drinking yogurts contain beneficial, gut loving probiotics to boost your health and wellbeing.
Are all thick yogurts, Greek yogurt?
No, the original Greek yogurt is strained or centrifuged, removing the whey to achieve its thick creamy texture. While some “Greek yogurts” are made with fillers or thickeners added to it achieve a texture close to the original.
Do all Greek Yogurts have Probiotics?
No keeping the probiotic in yogurt is a health benefit conscious decision over a business decision for most times it comes with additional work like constant temperature control & monitoring, must always be refrigerated, it’s not shelf stable & can’t be kept off the fridge for a long period, as the yogurt can over-ferment and deteriorate if not kept at the right temperature, and it also has a shorter shelf life.
While the process of making yogurt requires the use of various types of probiotics, it is taken off in the process to make the yogurt have a longer shelf life and make it shelf stable for ambient temperatures.
We intentional choose to keep the probiotics in our yogurts because of its immense health benefits to you. It’s all with you in mind, cos you deserve only the very best!
Am Lactose Intolerant, can I take Greek yogurt?
Greek yogurt is made from milk. While the straining process removes some of the lactose, and the probiotic content of the yogurt helps minimize the effects; However, it still contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance should be cautious or choose lactose-free option like plant-based yogurts.
Can yogurt be used for skincare?
Yogurt, particularly Greek yogurt (Full-fat/Full-cream Plain Unsweetened), can be used as a natural moisturizer due to its hydrating and exfoliating properties. It contains lactic acid, a humectant that attracts moisture and helps keep skin soft and supple. The proteins, vitamins, and minerals in yogurt can also help to soothe sunburn and shed dead skin cells. Order our BUGO Full-cream Greek yogurt here (Shop Bugo)
Is Greek yogurt good for weight loss?
Greek yogurt’s high protein content can help with weight loss by promoting feeling of fullness/safety. E.g. Swap heavy \or late-night meals with BUGO Greek yogurt, make a parfait, snack healthy with Greek yogurt and fruits rather than pastries, choose high-protein breakfasts to keep full for longer before your next meal. Remember to choose Plain Unsweetened and pair it right!
